The Certificate for Carers in Special Education Needs Level 3 has been developed in response to the request of the Special Education Needs Authority (SENA) and incorporates the requirements and feedback of relevant stakeholders.
This programme aims to equip carers with the academic foundation, practical knowledge, and professional skills required to effectively support children with special education needs. It also contributes to the personal and professional development of carers already working in the sector
The purpose of this programme is to strengthen the competencies of carers working with children with disabilities and special educational needs. The programme focuses on developing practical caregiving skills, promoting inclusive education, and improving the overall quality of support provided to children in schools and specialised institutions.
It also aims to provide carers with recognised qualifications that will enhance their confidence, employability, and career progression opportunities within the Special Education Needs sector.
This programme is designed for candidates who are already working in the Special Education Needs sector and have relevant work experience. It provides an opportunity for re-skilling and upskilling.
Applicants should meet one of the following criteria:
National Certificate of Education (NCE) / Form 3 or any alternative acceptable qualification at Level 2 of the NQF
