A Journey of Growth and Innovation

In the vibrant landscape of Mauritius, a transformative educational institution emerged, destined to shape the future of countless students: Polytechnics Mauritius. From its humble beginnings, the journey has been marked by implementation of innovative programmes which meet the industry demand and respond to the sustainable growth of the economy while providing high-end skilled manpower, achievement of strategic partnerships with both local and international Universities in bringing quality programmes, and a persistent commitment towards excellence.

Foundations of Collaboration

The story began in July 2017 when Polytechnics Mauritius signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Ministry of Health and Wellness. This important partnership laid the groundwork for future collaborations, aiming to enhance healthcare education and training within the health care community.

Expanding Horizons

In February 2018, the institution reached out beyond its shores, signing an MoU with HTMi Switzerland. This marked the beginning of a series of international alliances that would elevate its educational offerings for both the local and African students. Along the way of its progression in June 2018, a partnership with Microsoft was established, which allow the offerings of certified professional courses, as well as the integration of cutting-edge technology into the curriculum and preparing students for the digital evolution.

As 2018 drew to a close, Polytechnics Mauritius continued to expand its educational vision and global footprint, by signing an agreement with La Trobe University. This collaboration was another milestone achieved whereby it gives our students the opportunity to achieve higher degree education.

The early expansion and these collaborations have empowered the opening of new avenues for academic excellence and international exposure.

Strengthening Connections

The year 2019 was evidence to the institution’s commitment to growth. In September, it formed a partnership with Ducere Global School of Leadership in Melbourne, Australia, emphasizing the importance of leadership education. November saw a buzz of activity, with agreements signed with the University of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and Metro Express Limited, forging strong connections between academia and industry.

As the year concluded, Polytechnics Mauritius secured additional partnerships with C-Care and the University of Mauritius, further solidifying its role as a leader in higher technical education and innovation while increasing its portfolio of programmes in different high-end sectors.

Innovating for the Future

The dawn of 2020 brought new possibilities. In March, the institution signed an MoU with HTMi Singapore, expanding its network of global partners. October saw the signing of an MoA with Mauritius Freeport Development, a collaboration aimed at fostering economic growth through education, training while also providing our students the real-world exposure in the industry through placement.

In December, the partnership with the British Council opened doors to international collaboration and cultural exchange, inspiring the educational experience for all students. Moreover, it has also given opportunity for the institution to collaborate in projects to enhance its educational excellence through the VET Toolbox Mentoring Partnership Project.

Our Commitment to Education

As the world faced unprecedented challenges in 2021, Polytechnics Mauritius remained resilient. February saw renewed partnerships with the Ministry of Health and Wellness and the University of Mauritius, reinforcing its commitment to healthcare education. Additional collaborations with LinkbyNet and UCSI Malaysia showcased the institution’s dedication to innovation and technological advancement. These partnerships have enlarged the portfolio of niche yet industry driven programmes, consolidating more the base of the institution.

A Year of Achievements

The year 2022 was a milestone year for Polytechnics Mauritius. The launch of a Diploma in Mental Health Nursing and soft skills programs in Rodrigues highlighted its responsiveness to community needs. September marked a joyous occasion; the first graduation ceremony, celebrating the hard work of both our students and academicians who lead the achievements of our students.

Throughout the year, various events, including World Architecture Day and the Capstone Showcase, displayed student creativity and innovation, further establishing the institution as a hub of learning and development.

The same year marked the contribution of Polytechnics Mauritius under the guidance of the Ministry of Education to submit its views and inputs on the “Transforming Education Summit” initiated by the United Nations, where the institution has played an important role in the organization of the National Consultation and preparation of the National Report on Transforming Education.

Innovative Efforts

The year 2023, was another institutional achievement where Polytechnics Mauritius was granted the “Awarding Body Status” power which allows the institution to develop its our award programmes. This accomplishment testifies the effort of the institution to be closer to the industry, sustain the economy and also bring innovation programmes.

The year also marked a fundamental achievement, in December 2023, Polytechnics Mauritius unveiled the Dornier Aircraft MPCG-1, a significant addition that enhances its vision for aviation training capabilities. The unveiling marked a new chapter in practical learning, providing students with hands-on experience in a cutting-edge environment.

Continuing the Legacy

In 2023, Polytechnics Mauritius continued to build on its success. Partnerships with Hilton Mauritius and Niagara College- Canada expanded its educational offerings in hospitality and business. The second graduation ceremony in July celebrated another cohort of successful graduates, reinforcing the institution's impact on the community.

As the story unfolds in 2024, Polytechnics Mauritius launched a Nursing School in Rodrigues, expanding its healthcare education. The introduction of a Diploma in Sustainable Logistics and Global Supply Chain Operations reinforces its commitment to adapting to market demands and preparing students for future challenges.

The arrival of the Zhuk Vessel-CGS Retriever further embodied Polytechnics Mauritius’ commitment to marine studies and research. This vessel will enable students to engage in practical training and research, further bridging the gap between education and real-world applications.

Each milestone in this journey represents not just an achievement, but a proof to the dedication of Polytechnics Mauritius to promote innovation, collaboration and excellence in education. As it continues to grow and evolve, the institution remains committed to shaping the future of higher education in Mauritius, inspiring generations to come.
