Polytechnics Mauritius proudly extends its educational footprint in the heart of Rodrigues, now home to two (2) vibrant campuses – Baie Malgache and Mont Lubin. Our journey took a significant turn in June 2022, where the Executive Council of Rodrigues recommended that the building of Baie Malgache be allocated to us.
Our determined staff, Mrs. Reena Monogee, arrived in Rodrigues, establishing our first foothold in Anse aux Anglais. We started with a humble office at HRDC in Malabar, transforming a temporary library into a counselling area. We welcomed our inaugural cohort of 106 students in Diploma in Interactive Media and Tourism programmes.
This pivotal moment marked the beginning of a new chapter in our commitment to inclusive education for everyone.
Fast forward to today, our community has blossomed to 848 eager learners, embracing ten full-time programs, three part-time options, and a variety of intensive short courses tailored to the island’s dynamic needs.
March 2024 marked a significant milestone as we proudly inaugurated our second campus at Mont Lubin – ‘The Nursing School’. Here, we welcomed 124 nursing students into diverse programs, including Diploma in Health Care Assistance and a specialized Diploma in Midwifery and Obstetrical Nursing.
This expansion not only enriches our offerings but also reflects our commitment to meeting the health needs of the Rodrigues community.
At Polytechnics, we understand that Rodrigues is not just a backdrop; it’s an integral part of our vision. Our strategic plan has always aimed to equip the local population with skills that resonate with the island’s unique cultural and economic landscape. From smart technology to creative arts, airport management to eco-friendly practices, we are committed to nurturing the talents of Rodrigues—tailoring our approach to fit the island’s distinct vernacular.
Our collaboration with the Rodrigues Regional Assembly further emphasizes this commitment. By focusing on holistic development and soft skills training, we aim to empower individuals to thrive in their specific fields, be it Cybersecurity, Digital Media, or Leisure Management.
As we continue to grow, we remain committed in our belief that education should honour the unique spirit of Rodrigues. The newly established campus at Baie Malgache is proof of our community’s trust and our shared vision for a future where every individual can shine.
