Polytechnics Mauritius is recruiting a Part-Time Lecturer in Database Systems to deliver engaging, practical and level-appropriate training to its students.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver Database System modules through practical and applied learning
- Design course content, learning materials and assessments
- Guide students in database concepts, data management and database development
- Support students in practical database projects and exercises
- Evaluate student work and provide constructive feedback
- Use digital teaching tools and LMS platforms to support blended learning
Requirements
- Education: Minimum Undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Database Systems or a related field, together with at least 7 years of relevant professional experience; OR a Master’s degree in a relevant field together with at least 5 years of relevant professional experience
- Experience: Relevant professional experience in database development, database administration or information systems; tertiary teaching experience is an advantage
Skills:
- Strong knowledge of relational database concepts and data management
- Practical knowledge of SQL and database development
- Ability to guide students through practical database projects
- Strong problem solving and technical communication skills
- Comfortable using digital teaching tools and platforms
- Portfolio: Applicants must submit evidence of relevant database, software, data management or technical projects
Portfolio: All applicants must submit a professional portfolio demonstrating relevant practical work, projects and industry experience in the specialist area for which they are applying (specially for design and marketing relevance part). The portfolio should clearly demonstrate the applicant’s level of technical competence, creativity and professional practice.
